This policy covers two kinds of reviews on Tech Info: the editorial reviews we write, and the owner reviews customers submit on device pages.
Editorial reviews
- Written by a named reviewer with a bio. No anonymous “staff” bylines.
- Based on real units we have handled, scored with the method on the How we test page.
- Tech Info is owned by Cash for Techs, which buys the devices reviewed here. That relationship is disclosed on every page. See the disclosure.
Owner reviews
Owner reviews are submitted by people who own or owned the device. They appear on that device’s page and count toward its owner rating.
- We never hide a review because it is negative. The owner rating is the average of every approved review, not only the ones we feature.
- Reviews are approved or rejected for neutral reasons only, applied the same way to every submission: spam, offensive language, personal information, off-topic, a different device, unverifiable claims of fraud, or an undisclosed connection to Cash for Techs. A star rating is never a reason.
- Featured reviews are chosen for being helpful (detailed, long ownership, photos). When critical reviews exist, at least one is featured.
- Connections are shown. Anyone who works for Cash for Techs, is related to someone who does, or received anything of value from us must say so on the form, and that is displayed on the review.
- Incentives, if ever offered, are offered for any honest review, never for a positive one, and are disclosed on the review.
- No AI-written reviews and no reviews written by us posing as customers.
- Reviews of Cash for Techs’ own service belong on Google, not here. Device pages carry reviews of the device.
- Reviewers can ask for their review to be removed at any time by replying to the confirmation email.
This policy follows the FTC’s rule on consumer reviews and testimonials (16 CFR Part 465).
