Disclosure and how we rate

Tech Info is owned and operated by Cash for Techs, a Sacramento business that buys used phones, tablets, laptops and watches for cash. This is not an independent review site. Every page here can lead to a Cash for Techs offer, and we say so because the law requires it and because you deserve to know who is talking to you.

What that means for what you read

  • We may recommend our own service. When a page says “sell it now”, the obvious place to sell it is us. We also tell you when to keep a device, because advice that only ever says “sell” is not advice.
  • Offers are real, dated and ours. Every “up to” figure is the ceiling Cash for Techs would pay for that model in excellent condition on the date shown. They are not quotes from other companies and they are not promises; the offer you get is confirmed by text before you meet.
  • Ratings follow a published method. Durability, value retention, software support, performance and repairability are scored the same way for every brand. The method is on the How we test page.
  • Nobody is paid for a positive review. Staff reviews carry the reviewer’s name. Customer reviews are published under the review policy: we never remove a review because it is negative, and any incentive, employment or family connection is shown on the review.
  • Affiliate and sponsored links are labelled next to the link, not only in the footer. As of launch there are none.

Comparisons with other ways to sell

When we compare Cash for Techs with carrier trade-in programs or other buyback sites, we use quotes captured on the same day for the same device and condition, keep screenshots on file, show the date checked, and say plainly when someone else pays more.

Who we are

Cash for Techs is a licensed California secondhand dealer based in Sacramento. We meet sellers in person in Sacramento and Oakland, check the device in front of them and pay cash. Purchases are recorded and reported as California law requires, which is why a government photo ID is needed at every meetup.
